More Than Food
Guiding Hand
Providing meaningful experience and training to those looking for work.
Within our foodbank organisation there are numerous roles. Packing and distributing food parcels for clients might immediately spring to mind, but behind the scenes we rely on volunteers for a whole lot more.
Whether it is running an organised office, maintaining accurate warehouse records, or drumming up support through social media, our volunteer roles call for professionalism on all levels. And taking up a placement could lead to better prospects for those in the jobs market.
Under A Guiding Hand, clients are offered temporary unpaid roles working alongside seasoned volunteers and staff. During their placement, clients can access formal training and brush up on soft skills such as time management, effective communication, personal presentation and assignment delivery. And at the end of their time within the foodbank, we hope clients can positively demonstrate their talents and abilities to prospective employers with a view to securing paid work.
