Well done Phil!

Well done Phil!

A massive £420 has been raised by our Newcastle volunteer Phil Burgess and his son-in-law Dave who took on a bike ride in aid of the foodbank.

The pair had signed up for the 55-mile London to Brighton challenge on Sunday 14th September, but the arrival of Storm Amy meant they couldn’t take part.

Instead, they took the opportunity the next day to cycle from Nantwich through to Chester and Whitchurch, returning back to Nantwich. Despite the risk of wind and rain they managed to cover a total of 70 miles by looping through Cheshire and Shropshire, including a total elevation equivalent to four times up the Mow Cop Killer Mile.

And to make up for missing out on the satisfaction of crossing the finish line in Brighton, Phil and Dave treated themselves to a well deserved fish and chip supper. Thank you both for going the extra 20 miles – literally – in aid of Newcastle-Staffs Foodbank and to everyone who supported this event.
